Cody's Project
-Paul McCartney wrote "Yellow Submarine" as a children's story. The story goes that Paul was lying in bed late one night, and an idea popped in his head to write a children's song. The actual song may have been a spin-off of Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 And #35." Paul purposely used short words in the lyrics because he wanted kids to pick it up early and sing along. I love this song and band because they were revolutionary.
-The Dirty Heads, play some laid back alternative reggae music. My friend introduced to me last summer. I liked the way they brinh more modern things up in the songs. I love this kind of genre in music. I can't find anything wrong with it.
-This sond is called "My World" by Kid Cudi. I just started listing to him not to long ago. Pretty much when his new album came out. I Haven't stopped, mainly because his music has great beats mixed with amazing lyrics. I like the way he inturprets his dreams into his songs.
-Slightly Stoopid is one of my favorite bands. This song is Called "Wiseman". My friends and I listen to them all the time. They bring back some great memories from the summer. I love there style, lyrics, and tallent.
-M.I.A, "20 Dolla" is also a band inroduced to me the summer before last by a good friend of mine. Listing to her always brings back one particular memorie from the summer. I like the way she puts so many differnt sounds and noises into a great songs.
-Slightly Stoopid, "Round The World" is the name of this song. I found this song on itunes and still listen to it. I like the band and picked two of my favorite songs by them for this project beacuse the limit was two. Otherwise i would have put many more on. Slightly Stoopid is one of my favorite bands.
-Set Your Goals, "Gaia Bleeds (Make Way For Men)" is the name of this song. Kind of a different type of genre from the other songs on this playlist. But I like this band because there lyrics are more poetic then most. I also like this style because it is like the music I used to listin to.
-"Dramamine" by Modest Mouse. Dramamine is a motion sickness medicine that can alter your mood. The title of the album suggests a long drive, possibly while on tour, and too much time for the driver (or passenger) to be left alone with his own thoughts. You take Dramamine when you are going on a long road trip, and being an opiate it can cause weird flashbacks to depressing or sad memories.
-Bob Marley, "The Buffalo Soldiers". The Buffalo Soldiers were a segregated regiment of black cavalry fighters during the American campaign to rid the West of "Indians" so that "civilized" white people could gain the lands used by Native Americans. Ironically, many of the soldiers were slaves taken from Africa. Bob Marley gives a small history lesson as a protest song about the black man's role in building the country that continues to oppress him.
-This song is called "Float On" by Modest Mouse. This song was written to reassure that everything will be all right with life. Lead singer Isaac Brock had lost two close friends in life and felt he needed to be reassured with the good things in life. This song is more of an upper. this band is music at its best.
